Alto-Shaam’s Founder Jerry Maahs passed away from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2006. The following year, the company organized its first golf event to raise funds for research aimed finding new treatments and cures for the blood disease.
“Coming together in memory of my father was very moving,” said Steve Maahs, Jerry’s son, and Alto-Shaam president and chief operating officer. “Our global partners and employees united under a common goal of driving innovative blood cancer research forward for our community. It was a very impactful day focused on a lifesaving cause.”
Half of the event proceeds will be directed towards a research grant for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Jerry’s name, which has paved the way for new curative therapies including immunotherapy. The other half will support one of the most urgent needs identified by LLS, pediatric blood cancer research and patient access, with the money being used to help identifying curing therapies and reduce long-term treatment complications for children.
