Award-winning chef and food consultant from the Czech Republic, Chef Tomas has been in the UAE for more than eight years. He has traveled the world to perfect his skills since graduating from Hospitality Management School in 2001.
Starting in London as an apprentice he has worked his way up to head chef within a year mastering the various techniques he still uses today. Gaining quite the reputation in the UK he was offered the opportunity to open an Asian restaurant in Dubai Festival City in 2007 and decided to start his own business in 2010. Tomas Reger Food Consultants became a well-known brand within the Middle East after successful projects such as Sky Bar, Le Sushi Bar and the first “pop-up” restaurant in the Middle East, The Junkyard all located in Beirut, Lebanon.
In 2012 Chef Tomas took part in the International Fine Food Festival taking place in Dubai where he was awarded the overall winner. As a private chef, he became well known for his bespoke menus and the ability to create five-star quality dishes in his clients’ home and has since teamed up with Dubai’s Lime & Tonic Concierge Services to create the first Secret Supper Club in Dubai, an experience which has gained so much traction it is sold out months in advance.
He has also collaborated with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing for the special dining tour “From one chef to another” during the Dubai Food Festival in 2015. Another Dubai first for Chef Tomas was when he was appointed to develop the Bloomingdale’s Dubai “Bloomie’s Kitchen” concept, where he hosts regular cooking demonstrations with regular audiences, guest chefs and biweekly events which is now in its third season. Chef Tomas is also a regular contributor to magazines such as BBC Good Food, PRO Chef and Caterer Middle East with special recipes and views on food trends. He is respected in his field and has recently been nominated by PRO Chef as Innovation Chef 2014.
