Alto-Shaam raises new record annual total for Blood Cancer United
For the second year in a row, Alto-Shaam set a new fundraising record by raising $200,000 for Blood Cancer United, bringing their total contributions since 2007 to over $1.5 million.
For a second consecutive year, Alto-Shaam raised a new record total in support of Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), and in memory of Alto-Shaam founder, Jerry Maahs, who passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2006.
Across a series of fundraising activities throughout the year, including Golf For A Cure – Alto-Shaam's annual memorial golf event – and annual raffle event, Alto-Shaam raised a record $200,000 for the charity. Since the partnership with Blood Cancer United (formerly LLS) began in 2007, Alto-Shaam has raised more than $1.5 million, making it Wisconsin’s largest donor.
The proceeds will help aid Blood Cancer United’s mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for all patients and their families. It will also support the charity’s Dare to Dream Project which provides college scholarships for childhood blood cancer survivors in the local community, and the Jerry Maahs fund for NHL Research.
“As always, I’d like to thank all our partners, sponsors, employees and everyone else who helped make this record year a reality,” says Steve Maahs, Alto-Shaam CEO. “From our partners at Blood Cancer United, the Maahs Family Foundation, our Corporate Social Responsibility team at Alto-Shaam, along with everyone who took part in any of the events along the way or donated, I would like to personally say thank you. Your support and dedication really means everything and ensures we are able to continue to support Blood Cancer United, a fantastic and vital organization, and help support the work they do for blood cancer patients and their families.”
“Alto-Shaam’s continued support and partnership truly means everything to us,” says Alli Rekow, Regional Advancement Director at Blood Cancer United. “Our relationship is truly unique and there is a very genuine shared feeling of a united team working together towards a common goal, which is really special. I can’t thank everyone at Alto-Shaam enough for their continued and unwavering support, the impact is plain to see – enabling us to support more patients and families, and support more students through college.”
