Turkey Drumsticks

Rotisserie ovens are frequently used in grocery store delis to make grab-and-go meals simple. But it’s easy to go beyond the traditional rotisserie chicken by using the oven for other purposes. Plan ahead for this recipe as the turkey drumsticks are marinated for 12 hours.

This turkey drumstick recipe can be adapted by serving with various barbeque sauces.

Ingredients

12 Raw Turkey Legs

Brine 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Allspice 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Nutmeg 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Chipotle powder 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Cayenne 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Onion powder 
1 C. (237ml) Brown sugar 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Whole Peppercorns 
¼ C. (59ml) Smoked Paprika 
1 T (15ml) Chopped onions 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Garlic Salt 
¼ tsp (1.23ml) Ginger powder 
1 C (237ml) Kosher Salt 
1 Gallon(3.79L) Cold Water

Preparation

Bring 1 C. (237ml) water bring to a boil and add the spices and cook until the salt is dissolved. 

Add the rest of the cold water to cool down brine. 

Refrigerate brine to 38°F (3.3°C) 

When brine is cold add the turkey legs to marinate. Marinate for 12 hours. 

Rinse off marinade and season with favorite all purpose seasoning 

Cook at 250°F (121°C) for 2 hours internal temp 190°F (88°C)
